Maluan Mountain Country Park: A Hidden Gem of Waterfalls, Ancient Villages and Sea Views in Shenzhen

Located in Pingshan District of Shenzhen, Maluan Mountain Country Park covers an area of over 31 square kilometers. Centered on “Green Maluan Mountain, Ecological Healthy Tour”, it is an urban oasis integrating natural wildness and cultural heritage, renowned as “Little Jiuzhaigou” of Shenzhen. Free from industrial pollution with fresh air, it is 3℃ cooler than downtown in midsummer, making it a perfect resort for escaping the heat and breathing fresh air.

For Natural Scenery, Longtan Mountain Waterfall Group is the highlight. Composed of five stone wall waterfalls stretching for 2 kilometers, the cascading water presents a magnificent sight, especially stunning after rain. It can be easily reached from the Biling Entrance. As Shenzhen’s largest plum blossom scenic area, thousands of plum trees bloom all over the mountain in late winter and early spring. Climbing to Plum Pavilion, you can enjoy the panoramic view of mountains and seas together with the beautiful plum blossoms.

The Park also features profound cultural heritage. Scattered in the mountains are Lingnan-style Hakka dwellings with a history of over 600 years, including well-preserved Luo Clan Ancestral Hall, watchtowers and ancient wells, allowing visitors to experience the simple folk customs. It is also the site of the Gengzi Uprising and the headquarters of the Dongjiang Column, carrying a heavy revolutionary memory. The handcrafted trails built under the “Three-Zero Concept” use dead wood and stones, showing the original ecological style.
