Lianhuashan Park: A Window to Shenzhen’s Spirit and Scenery

Located at No. 6030 Hongli Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, Lianhuashan Park covers 181 hectares. Serving as both an ecological lung and a cultural landmark bearing Shenzhen’s spirit, it is a national key Park and a red tourism scenic spot, welcoming visitors of all types.

The Top Square is the core attraction. At the summit of the 100-meter-high main peak, a 6-meter-tall bronze statue of Deng Xiaoping stands on the 4,000-square-meter square, depicting the great man striding forward. It is not only a sacred place to cherish the memory of the great man, but also an excellent viewing platform overlooking the skyscrapers of Futian CBD, where sunrise, sunset and urban light shows can be captured perfectly. The banyan tree planted by President Xi Jinping beside the square witnesses the vigorous development of the city and has become an important memorial landmark.

The ecological and leisure landscapes are equally impressive. The Kite Square in the southeast is an iconic cultural spot in Shenzhen. On the 20,000-square-meter lawn, flying kites, picnicking and camping are common activities for visitors. When kapok trees bloom from October to December, the pink flower sea creates a picturesque scene like a natural filter. The Rainforest Valley in the east boasts a 1.2-kilometer wooden plank road and water-friendly platforms, with 32 species of tropical plants forming a dense canopy. Free public ecological explanations are available every Wednesday and Saturday. The 50,000-square-meter Lianhua Lake in the north shimmers brightly, offering a peaceful place for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.

In terms of cultural activities, the annual Bougainvillea Exhibition from November to December is a grand event in the city. As Shenzhen’s iconic themed flower show, it has been upgraded to integrate flower art exhibitions, markets and cultural activities. In addition, the Memorial Garden for the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone interprets the reform course through sculpture walls, forming a cultural echo with the Top Square. The Tomb of Huang Motang from the Southern Song Dynasty adds a sense of historical depth to the Park.

Practical Information: The park is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM (admission stops at 10:30 PM) and is free of charge. For transportation, take Metro Line 3 or 4 to Children’s Palace Station, Exit F1, which leads directly to the South Gate. For self-driving, you can book parking spaces at the South Gate and West Gate parking lots, but parking is in high demand on weekends, so green travel is recommended. It takes about 15 minutes to hike to the summit. The accessible elevator operates only from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, so hiking is required for night viewing.
