Shenzhen Bay Park Guide: Ecology and Humanism Along the 13-Km Coastal Corridor

Shenzhen Bay Park, located along the Coast of Shenzhen Bay in the southwest of Shenzhen, is a coastal green corridor integrating ecology and humanism. Composed of the Mangrove Coastal Ecological Park (opened in 2000) and the Shenzhen Bay Coastal Leisure Belt (opened in 2011), the park covers a total area of 128.74 hectares and stretches 13 kilometers along the coastline. It connects 14 themed areas and is seamlessly linked with Shenzhen Talent Park and Shahe Leisure Belt, becoming an iconic urban card of Shenzhen.

As an ecological treasure, it serves as a vital stopover for migratory birds traveling from Siberia to Australia, housing over a hundred bird species including egrets and black-faced spoonbills. The extensive mangrove wetlands form a unique ecosystem. To protect this natural gift, the Shenzhen municipal government once moved the planned Binhai Boulevard more than 200 meters northward. This commitment has earned the Park the “National Low-Carbon Ecological Demonstration Project” and “China Habitat Environment Model Award.”

Humanistic and leisure elements blend here. The Egret Slope Book Bar has become a popular check-in spot with the unique experience of “reading with head down and watching the sea with head up,” boasting a collection of over 8,000 books and regularly hosting reading sessions and literary salons. The 26-meter-high Universiade Torch Tower, a legacy of the 2011 Summer Universiade, stands as an urban landmark. Attractions like Wedding Square, Sunrise Theater, and Sea View Pier cater to diverse needs such as camping, cycling, sunset viewing, and portrait photography. Watching birds in the morning, cycling in the afternoon, and admiring the panoramic view of Shenzhen Bay Bridge and Hong Kong’s Yuen Long at dusk—here lies the most comfortable Coastal life in Shenzhen.
